Overview
Our 2 day Scottish Expedition Winter Skills Course provides the essential foundation for safe and confident winter mountain travel throughout the UK & Ireland.
Led by our experienced Winter Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor, Steve Hodge, you will learn how to use crampons and an ice axe correctly, move safely and efficiently across snow and ice, practise self-arrest, develop avalanche awareness, improve your winter navigation and make informed decisions in challenging mountain conditions.
The course takes place in a real Scottish winter mountain environment, allowing skills to be introduced, practised and developed as part of each mountain day. This practical approach allows you to build experience and confidence while learning how conditions, terrain and weather influence the decisions we make in winter.
The programme provides an important foundation for anyone looking to progress their winter mountaineering and potentially take the next step towards alpine climbing, Mont Blanc, a 6,000-metre peak or a future high-altitude expedition.
You will leave with greater confidence, stronger mountain judgement and a solid foundation of winter mountaineering skills.
