The Scotland 7 Summits Challenge – Highland edition is part of the new Seven Summit Series.
Embark on Scotland’s most epic mountain adventure across four unforgettable days in the heart of the Highlands. This premium guided expedition tackles seven iconic Munros, including the legendary Ben Nevis summit via CMD Arete, the spectacular Ring of Steall circuit and the dramatic Buachaille Etive Beag.

    03:30 a.m – Stena Line ferry: Belfast → Cairnryan (02h 30min)
    06:00 a.m – Arrive Cairnryan, Scotland
    06:15 – 11:00 a.m – Drive to trailhead (breakfast & Pack lunch stop en route)
    11:30 a.m – Hike: Buachaille Etive Beag Ridge (2 Munros)

      Out-and-back hike. A well-maintained path climbs to the bealach (saddle) between the two summits, Stob Coire Raineach 925 m to our left and Stob Dubh 958m (blacks mountain) to our right and return by the same path.

      A classic Highland horseshoe circuit. Starting near Steall Falls, we ascend steeply onto the ridgeline, tackling 4 Munros in a clockwise loop:

      • An Gearanach (982 m)
      • Stob Coire a’ Chàirn (981 m)
      • Am Bodach (1,032 m)
      • Sgùrr a’ Mhàim (1,099 m)
        The route finishes back at the same car park via a steep descent.
    • Distance: 16 km
    • Ascent: 1,591 m

      One of Scotland’s most dramatic ridge traverses. We ascend Carn Mòr Dearg and traverse CMD Arete before climbing to the summit of Ben Nevis (1,345 m). Descent directly into Glen Nevis.

    17:45 p.m – Arrive Belfast Port

Rooming Notes

This is Contemporary hostel accommodation with a wide range of en-suite rooms and comfortable shared dorms all with secure under-bed storage, USB power sockets and bedside lighting for every bed. Shared dorms are by gender.
WiFi is free for all guests and other facilities include, a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, an open-plan living space with log-burning stove and panoramic mountain views, large deck, drying room and laundry facilities.

  • This challenge is for hikers who:

    • Relish the opportunity to get that Highlander 7 Summits Medallion
    • Seek a challenging, high-reward adventure in classic Highland terrain
    • Are comfortable with big days hiking in the hills.
    • Are confident with light scrambling (CMD Arete is exposed but non-technical)
    • Are well-equipped for variable Scottish mountain weather

We do not sell or arrange transport or travel commencing in the Irish State to destinations outside Ireland or Northern Ireland. Any transport or ferry services referenced are provided by independently contracted third-party operators under their own licences and terms.

Health, Fitness & Experience

Strenuous grade: long days, 1,000–1,600 m ascent. You should be comfortable with continuous hiking on steep, rocky ground and with light scrambling exposure.
Please disclose any Injuries or medical conditions pre-departure.

You need to be fit and healthy to get through this weekend.

Seasonal/route-specific notes
• Late May in Wales can still be cold/wet on ridges, pack warm layers.
• Light scrambling and sustained rocky terrain on steep ground, good boots essential.
• In Hostel all bedding is provided – no need for sleeping bags

Weather and Contingencies
Scottish mountain weather is highly changeable. Guides may adjust routes, order of days, turn-around times, or choose safer alternatives if wind/visibility or difficult conditions require it.

You may pay your deposit and balance using any lawful means. If sending money by electronic bank transfer then you will be responsible for covering the cost of the fees associated with the transfer, so that the company receives the full amount shown on your invoice, in the denomination shown on your invoice.

Participants must carry travel insurance that covers trip cancelation and medical cover while hillwalking (non-technical) up to 1,400 m in the UK.
