Day 1
Fly into Marrakech Airport from your chosen departure point. There is no fixed itinerary today, so you may arrive at any time, day or night.
On arrival, you will be welcomed by our guide team and transferred by Black Mountaineering private transport to your traditional riad accommodation in Marrakech.
After a restful night, breakfast will be served at 8:00 am with the guide team. At 9:00 am, you will depart Marrakech and begin your journey towards the spectacular High Atlas Mountains.
Day 2
After breakfast at 8:00 am, you’ll depart your riad at 9:00 am with our guide team for the scenic drive to the mountain village of Imlil (1,740m), where your trek begins.
Following the beautiful Mizane Valley, you’ll pass through the traditional Berber village of Aremd (1,900m) and visit the sacred shrine of Sidi Chamarouch before continuing your ascent to the Toubkal Refuge (3,200m), your mountain home for the night. Nestled beneath the towering slopes of Jebel Toubkal, the refuge offers spectacular alpine scenery and marks the perfect base for your summit attempt.
Day 3
Today is summit day. After breakfast at 1:00 am, you’ll set off under headtorch at 2:00 am for the ascent of Jebel Toubkal (4,167m), North Africa’s highest mountain.
Following the South Cirque, you’ll steadily climb through alpine terrain, reaching the summit in approximately 3–4 hours. As the sun rises, take in breathtaking panoramic views stretching across the High Atlas Mountains and, on a clear day, as far as the edge of the Sahara Desert.
After celebrating your achievement, you’ll descend to the Toubkal Refuge for a well-earned breakfast and time to relax before continuing down the valley to the welcoming Berber village of Aremd (1,900m), where you’ll spend the night. The day is expected to take 10–11 hours in total.
This evening, enjoy a traditional Moroccan celebration with authentic local cuisine, music, and dancing—a memorable way to mark your successful summit of North Africa’s highest peak.
Day 4
After a traditional Berber breakfast, you’ll enjoy a guided walk through the mountain village of Aremd, followed by a refreshing swim at one of the valley’s hidden waterfalls.
A short 2 km trek then brings you back to Imlil, where our private transfer awaits for the scenic 1 hour 30 minute drive to Marrakech. After checking into your riad, enjoy a hot shower and some free time to explore the vibrant, spice-scented souks and colourful streets of the city.
That evening, we’ll come together for a special celebration dinner featuring traditional Moroccan cuisine, music, and dancing, where you’ll also receive your official Black Mountaineering Summit Certificate to mark your successful ascent of Jebel Toubkal.
Day 5
Enjoy a relaxed final morning in Marrakech before your journey home. You may choose to wander through the city’s vibrant souks, experience a traditional Moroccan Hammam, or join an unforgettable sunrise hot air balloon flight over the Atlas Mountains.
The optional hot air balloon experience includes a 5:30 am pick-up, a spectacular sunrise flight, and a lavish traditional Moroccan breakfast before returning to your hotel at approximately 11:00 am. (Optional extra: €175 per person.)
At the appropriate time, you’ll be collected by our Black Mountaineering private expedition transport and transferred to Marrakech Airport for your onward flight home.
