North of Bothy Wild Camping
This expansive mountain range stretches across Counties Sligo and Mayo along Ireland’s western seaboard. Composed of ancient gneiss, schist, and granite formations, the Ox Mountains reach 544 metres at Knockalongy, while the nearby Nephin Beg range rises dramatically to form Wild Nephin National Park. Explore its dramatic valleys and pristine Atlantic blanket bogs, the Owenduff and Tarsaghaun river systems, and the remote wilderness surrounding Lough Easkey, Lough Achree, and the corrie lakes nestled high in the Nephin Beg Mountains.
