The Ireland 7 Summits Challenge® is Black Mountaineering’s national hiking series: a season-long journey through seven of Ireland’s great mountain ranges, running from spring through to September. It’s designed so people can take part in one event or complete all seven and become an Ireland 7 Summits Summiteer.

The seven mountain challenges are:

  • MacGillycuddy’s Reeks — Kerry
  • Mourne Mountains — Down
  • Twelve Bens — Galway
  • Ox Mountains — Mayo
  • Galtee Mountains — Tipperary
  • Comeragh Mountains — Waterford
  • Derryveagh Mountains — Donegal

The Ireland 7 Summits Challenge® is about progression. Someone can begin at a manageable level, build fitness, mountain experience and confidence through the season, and finish in Donegal having completed a genuine national mountain journey.

The Ireland 7 Summits Challenge® is also about much more than ticking off peaks: community, friendship, adventure, personal challenge and celebrating Ireland’s mountains. People can join alone or with friends, and the series is professionally guided with basecamps at each event. Those completing all seven receive the Ireland 7 Summits piece of the Seven Summit Series® medallion.

And increasingly, Ireland 7 Summits Challenge® acts as the Irish gateway into the wider Seven Summit Series®, taking the same concept internationally into countries including Wales, Scotland, Poland, Norway, Bulgaria and Morocco.
