This expedition was a step up from hiking to mountaineering in an environment that allowed me to grow & develop with the confidence of a very knowledgeable, professional & safety conscience team. My boundaries were pushed in this mountaineering environment in winter conditions, for which I had no previous experience. It was a privilege to also be lead by Mohamed & his amazing team. We were welcomed into their culture & home with open arms & big hearts. Any expedition under the leadership of Jason Black is an experience of a lifetime for which I am eternally grateful for.Posted on Google Gavin CoyleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Myself and a group of lads booked a guided mountain trip with Black Mountaineering in Feb 2026. Jason and his wife Sharon put together an amazing package for us (10 people) staying in their amazing Airbnb overlooking the beach and sea. From the moment we arrived Jason and Sharon made us feel right at home, the process and structure of the package is meticulously planned to precisely meet what’s needed for an unreal experience. Jason’s expertise gives you great confidence your in safe hands, his knowledge and experiences are mind blowing Highly recommendPosted on Google Gerry ShaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Just had a fantastic couple of days in Donegal hiking with friends. Stayed at Everest Lodge and I’m not sure there was anything more Jason and Sharon could have done to look after us. From start to finish everything was spot on. To be honest it felt like staying with relatives. Jason and Sharon make you feel so welcome. Jason sharing his mountaineering expertise and vast knowledge of the history of the Derryveagh Mountains made it a really enjoyable experience. When it came to getting prepped for our hikes Sharon was an absolute star! Making sure the troops were well fed and helping with sorting out our kit. Thank you both so much for being super hosts! This was a fantastic experience that had the perfect mix of intrigue, adrenaline and craic!!! A trip I won’t forget! Wow! To celebrate entering my eighth decade I signed up to climb Kilimanjaro with Jason and his team. My trip surpassed all expectations. First I climbed Mount Meru with Benson, my wonderful guide - it was tough but amazing, and brilliant to trek through the Arusha National Park at the start, past giraffes etc. Then I joined the rest of the gang and we set off to climb Kilimanjaro. Again I found it tougher than expected, but the team of guides, porters, cooks and even toilet engineer were superb and made the whole thing both achievable and enjoyable. All Jason's extras - the visit to the Masai village, to the swimming lake, to make coffee, to the school he's help build etc. etc. all added massively to the experience. The add-on safari at the end was incredible. And then I had 10 days in Zanzibar. It was the experience of a lifetime, and I can't praise Jason or his team too highly. They were all fantastic!Posted on Google John MurphyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Have been to Nepal and the Andes with Jason, as well as a few of the events in Ireland. Always enjoyable, well guided and learn a lot in the process.Posted on Google Ronan WilkinsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Having done a number of expeditions over the last 10 years, I can safetly say Black Mountaineering offers the most comprehensive experience in terms of learning, growth and development. Jason and Sharon have established something with a unique selling point here..this is not a travel company..this is something greater. If you want to build out your skillsets in the mountains and have immense fun along the way then look no further.Posted on Google Joseph BreathnachTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. An ok company if you want to do some relatively easy mountains like Kili or Aconcagua. But if you’re looking to summit more technical mountains such as Ama Dablam, do your homework. Jason might be an accomplished mountaineer in his own right, but he lacks the experience to lead such expeditions. His 2024 Ama trip was a complete disaster. Running guys ragged on island peak, not enough rest. Only 1 guy sumitted and it was all blamed on weather/ conditions. Meanwhile on the same day there was multiple summits from other teams. This was due to proper acclimatisation and doing rotations on the mountain instead of trying to rush the process. Not a qualified guide, hence the reason the term “high altitude specialist” is used a lot. Only interested in pampering his own Ego If you’re a serious climber, there are plenty of professional outfits with a much higher success rate.Posted on Google Mel McMahonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve recently completed a couple of expeditions with Jason Black Mountaineering, each one progressively more advanced, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. As the technical difficulty increased, so did my enjoyment. The challenges were demanding without ever feeling overwhelming, largely thanks to Jason and his teams exceptional knowledge and calm, professional approach. Jason and his team didn’t just lead the route—they took the time to explain techniques, offer expert advice, and encourage me to push my limits safely. Their guidance has genuinely helped me develop my skills and feel more capable as a hiker. I’ve come away from each expedition feeling more confident, better prepared, and eager for the next challenge. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jason Black Mountaineering to anyone looking to progress and truly enjoy their time in the mountains.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
